What is it? How do you find it? The soul is us, what we are.

There is this light we can’t see and yet it’s there showing the way. I guess we all know the word soul by the letters, but the meaning of the word is very vague. To me the soul is about life, to be alive, and to be alive as a person. To me the soul also has become to be my true self, the person I am. The change of gender that I have experienced, in many terms was an alarm bell waking me up and rather early I got aware that society and science explanations about gender didn’t add up; actually far from it. There was something missing and I felt the need to find it in order to survive.

This doesn’t mean that I alone am right in everything I say and everybody else is wrong. The thing is that we need to understand things our way and not copy what other people tell us. Learning is about understanding and repeating what other people say is about memory, you don’t have to understand, you just have to remember what you have been told to do. The “Across Borders” series is where we meet and exchange understandings regardless of our differences. Politics, religion, race, gender, or whatever prohibiting us to meet, is something setup by others. We are all born with an open mind and our souls are free to pass any man made border. However, that person, the character we would like to be, or other people would like us to be, can easily get trapped ending up denying life and the very true selves they are.

So, “Across Borders” is about open mind discussions, sharing various ways of understanding.

To begin with we need to sort out a couple of things before we dig in learning about the soul. The soul sometimes is mentioned as the spirit and I don’t mind that at all. Let’s not argue about labeling things before we know who or what we are talking about.

We also need to sort societal norms and preferences, as they will constantly mislead us. Like try not to think in terms like it might be the way we act that make us, we may very well be programmed from the very beginning starting of with the first cell developing before we are born. If the soul equals life, it might even have been assigned to us before that. There are also believes that a soul reborn and I don’t discard that, even if I don’t understand it that way, not yet anyway.

There; now that that have been said, I would like to invite you to explore “Happiness” and to try out how “Happiness” could be used to track down the soul. What makes a person happy? Even if a person is admired and have everything he or she possibly could want, that person may still not be happy. Ask yourselves, why is that so? If you got everything you ever wanted, wouldn’t you be happy? Yes of course you would, it’s obvious, isn’t it? Or…

What do you want? And in the first place, who is that you?” Are you the character you appear as, or is there something else controlling your behavior and happy feelings and if so, how?

The other side of the coin is “Unhappiness” and can in worse case lead to serious depressions, regardless of worldly things. What makes a person unhappy? Is it everything and everybody apart from that person that is wrong, or is it just that person, that very person he or she is, or is it the character that person have adopted?

Happiness or being unhappy, has that anything to do with wrong and right? I don’t think so. There got to be something else controlling happiness. So, when there are something our five senses can’t track and the sixth, sometimes talked about, doesn’t seem to guide us right either, then we need to dig deeper. These unhappy feelings for many of us can be experienced worse than any physical pain. I have experienced that, and people do commit suicide for no obvious reasons. So are there more than six senses? These happy/unhappy feelings that can be so strong, can there be many more senses that we don’t know about?

My experiences have made me understand that there must be many thousands more senses beyond the sixth and that this happy/unhappy feeling is connected to all, but not alone. There must be a reference somewhere that somehow makes happiness shift. What if that reference is our soul? What does it do and how does it affect us? Can we decide, like brain control this soul thing? Is our brain the soul? Like passing through the eye of a needle a whole new world is opening up to us, but which way to go? That something, the soul, is there on the other side greeting us and it’s there our search for the soul change character. You don’t search for the soul anymore, you have come to the turning point where instead that something, the soul, is guiding you to make you aware.

Okay, this is my entry finding and learning about the soul and I know it raises at lot more questions than it answers. I also know that these questions are not that easy to put down on paper and into written words, but you can always try, I will. That is how I have learnt expressing myself. Good or bad? That’s a question I still is struggling with, but my soul is kicking my ass telling me “Don’t bother good or bad, as long you’re having fun and feeling happy, you’re doing the right thing.
