Re: Traveling, a Message and then Thoughts
by
naa2007
Oh Li, I have read this journal page several times. I have also read the memorials to Femke on Lynn Conway's site. What a shame. Why is it so easy to reject the feelings of a transsexual person? How can people be so selfish? How can they withhold their love? How can they hold hostage their dear children? Are they so arrogant that they think they know the mind of God and are empowered to do His work?
I am so grateful that I have never experienced such dysphoria, or such hatred from other people that I have ever felt suicidal. I have some experience with suicide as I know several people who have ended their lives. My oldest son attempted suicide twice before dying of natural causes two years ago. Though none of these people were transgendered, I do have a real burden for my transsexual brothers and sisters. I believe the only solution to gender dysphoria is education. Until people understand transsexualism, there will always be prejudice, phobias, guilt trips and other unhealthy pressures placed on transsexual people.
As hard as it is for the transsexual person to accept who they are, it is much harder for the people around them. That's why I think your book, Behind Waves, and your blogs are so important. That's why web sites like Lynn Conway's and speakers like Jessica McKinnon (and many other examples) are so important. And it's why I have published my web site. Keep up the good work. - Nicole
