Re: A Walk in the Park

Maybe integrity can be defined as being honest with yourself and everyone around you. If it is, it's no wonder why many transsexual people feel depressed. I know that for me, honesty and integrity is essential for my self esteem.
But how can you be honest, if you are really a woman but living life as a man? This is a question that I have struggled with. Especially since my wife has used at least one form of that logic on me in our discussions. However, I have concluded that I am honest and a person of integrity. Yes my gender, my brain is female, but my body is male. Honesty and integrity is about who I am and what I do with my mind and body, not just what I look like or how I dress.
Don't get me wrong. I get blue, mostly because of what I have missed. But I hope and pray that more of my transsexual sisters and brothers could see themselves as the beautiful people of integrity that they really are.
It saddens me that friends, family members and churches, whether well meaning or not, continue to attack the self esteem of the transsexual in this manner. How many lives will suffer unnecessary pain or even death before they finally understand?
