Re: Skyjland -20- Summer Ends
by

Li, I lead a Bible study at church. We are currently studying Revelation. In there John is being shown various scenes that he describes in the book. Many times he writes the phrase, "I saw, and behold." Until recently I always glanced over statements like that, assuming it was just old fashioned language. But I realized, and have now been stressing to my class that "behold" is a command to us. John saw, and we are to behold. We are to not just read the description of what John saw, but we are to see it for ourselves, to observe it, to muse over it and to appropriate it's meaning into our lives.
I read your fairy tales with all the characters, and if it is to mean anything to me, I have to behold it. I can say that even without all the details about the characters, I feel that I have a real knowledge and understanding of who they are. It's like I have come to know them. I have beheld them. But this understanding did not come all at once, it came piece by piece as their stories have unfolded.
I too have found that place where horizons meet. But I do not know everything about myself yet. Each time I visit there I look and I behold something new. It's so exciting to get to know myself, even if it has to come slowly, bit by bit. But it is scary too. I have found things about myself that I never wanted to admit. But even that knowledge, when acknowledged and dealt with properly makes me better, and allows me to live a life of integrity.
You mentioned that when at that place where horizons meet, we may have met. You betcha. Though we are many miles apart and our physical paths may never cross, I have beheld you through your writing. Just like your fairy tale characters, I feel that I know you.
I really appreciate your writing and all the work that Shelley and Lisa do. In addition, I thank Maryanne for the patience she exhibits as you spend this time writing for us. - Nicole
